New York City
This project – a collaboration with our artist client - entailed the renovation and restoration of a historic double townhouse in Manhattan. The client wanted new modern elements to contrast with the traditional style of the existing house. These modern interventions punctuate the spatial experience throughout. Living areas, including the kitchen, dining room, orangerie, living room, double-height ballroom, and guestrooms occupy the first three floors. A painting studio featuring a huge new skylight and a loft-type master bedroom suite with new roof terrace are located at the top of the building and two private terraces offer tranquil settings in the city. Experimental finishes using plaster, cement and wood as well as custom lighting and custom tiles are present throughout the house.
